Hi Mrs. Porter Shirley!
...I cannot tell you how well ---- is doing. He is confident, happy, and
thriving. From his first conversation on, everything-teachers, classes, his courses-everything
to him has been "amazing." He has a new found outlook and desire to learn that I had never
before seen in him. He says being at ----- has made him want to learn and he is experiencing
a success for his efforts for the first time.
I think being away has instilled a mature independence and self reliance in him too...
He is enjoying sailing and plans to try for a part in Grease this winter...
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your help and encouragement to him in making
this transition. I would love to be a cheerleader for you and boarding schools if
you need a Mom reference!!
Dear Bunny,
...I cannot possibly convey to you my gratitude
for your placing at ---- this amazing school. For several years now, I have
agonized over her life here in ----, her misspent days, nights, months. I have
grieved over a lost relationship and witnessed countless self-destructive acts on
her part. In short, I had lost nearly all hope for my daughter. You cannot possibly
know how grateful I am that you saw a future in ----. In addition, your knowledge and
intuition led to your recommending ---- to our hurting family. As a result, I am
overjoyed to have my daughter back. In 5 months she has conquered many challenges,
faced some of her worst fears and pain and begun a journey of healing and recovery.
Without your involvement, this would have never happened. I hope you realize how important
your work is to others. I will be eternally grateful.
Dear Bunny,
As Betsy's senior year comes to a close, I wanted to be certain to write you a
note of thanks for your marvelous guidance and instruction in her college search process.
Because of your keen ability to help teenagers focus on the real issues and then prepare
appropriately, the entire process has been one of fun and excitement for us. I simply can't
imagine doing this without you.
...Throughout the college search and selection process, our daughters were weeks ahead of their
friends who were relying solely on school counselors. Therefore, the anxiety level was reduced
to nothing; and the whole process was a source of excitement and pleasure. The girls felt
confident at all their entrance interviews, they were very prepared and we came away thoroughly
knowing each college - able to form a sound opinion. Because of BPS, we nailed the college visits.
Parent of College Student
...One of the biggest helps you afforded Andrew, in my opinion, was putting his
resume together - that was very helpful for him and a good exercise. Thanks!
Dear Bunny,
Thank you for helping Jonathan in his college search. You were a big help in giving feedback
on his essay and in motivating us to "just do it" (fill out those forms). Time is a precious
gift. Thank you for giving yours. This was not the first time you have helped our family.
God bless you.
He seems to be enjoying a successful and satisfying experience in Oregon working inside
the unique combination of The Learning Center, the Community College and the University.
He clearly made an informed choice, which seems to be working very well for him: and obviously
the two of you, along with Bunny Porter-Shirley, are the protagonists of his good fortune.
Thank you sincerely for your good wisdom, experience and direction on his behalf.
Parents in Old Hickory, Tennessee
Your help and guidance made a stressful time much easier.... You were such a tremendous help
with all the required essays -- and [our child] appreciated all your input. Without you we would
never have thought to consider the University of Michigan as a college possibility. As you know,
[our child] selected Michigan. It was a decision he made entirely on this own, and he is happy
about it. We are thrilled.
Looking back on the college selection process, we feel your help and guidance were close to
invaluable. In fact, I don't know how we could have accomplished everything without you.
Grateful Parent from Mississippi
I didn't know whether you had had any contact with his School recently so I just wanted to
bring you up to date. Peter is on his first home visit, and we are truly amazed at the change
in him. It has been a difficult few months for him, but the group process is definitely working;
he has dealt with a lot of very heavy issues. He talks very openly with us about what he has been
through and his goals for the future. He is like a different young man, agreeable and fun to be
around again. It's definitely the BEST Christmas present we could have asked for! He still has a
long way to go, but he is on the right track at last. Thank you for guiding us to this school -
it was absolutely the BEST place we could have found for him. Will keep you posted as time goes on.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!

I was meaning to write you for some time and let you know how happy we are with T's progress at
Hillside. He is benefiting from the structured program. He has made some friends and is much easier
going. I no longer worry about him because he is growing up and beginning to understand how
important it is to behave well in society. He loves the school and has received several awards
this year. Thanks for finding the right school for him. Warmest Regards, T's mom
Mother of a Special Needs Son
I want you to know how much I appreciate your generosity with your time, your kindness, and your
wisdom in helping us through this very trying summer. Your sensitivity and expertise is more than
invaluable.
From one mother to another, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A Parent New to the U.S.
We think we are very, very fortunate to know you at this difficult time of our lives. Maybe
you don't know how much you mean to us right now in this whole trouble in a foreign country.
Mother of a Special Needs Daughter
We are extremely impressed with the school and she seems to have settled in smoothly. I can't
tell you how wonderful it is to feel some hope for her again and I am especially grateful to you
for setting us in the right direction.
Bunny
We cannot thank you enough for making such a difference in C's life. She has told us
she loves (the school), that she loves her classes - she said she "feels smart" and her papers
and work in college are validation at last! She has her world open and feels empowered
- Thank you, Bunny!
Thank you for helping J. achieve his goal. He is very, very happy with the prospect
of attending L. and the scholarship made it possible for us to send him there. We just wanted to
let you know how much we appreciate you. The whole process was his and yours and made him feel
very much like a grown-up. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you so much for helping S. You have given her so much confidence. We will never be able
to tell you how much we appreciate your help at this particular time.
Bunny,
Thanks doesn't even begin to cover my gratitude! When you first started mentioning ---- School, I couldn't have been more opposed!... I tried to stay open-minded - and polite - but I sure couldn't see how this could really be the right place. And then we visited. I can't explain it, except to say that it slowly began to feel more and more "right."
And now, I'm happy to report very good things! ----- made the A varsity soccer team - he started in the first game, in fact! He's made friends, says he loves his tutor, and seems to be enjoying every aspect of being there! I'm thrilled! This has been such an answer to prayer!... I truly believe that we've found the path to much better things. And we never would have gotten here without your help! Thanks so much for using your expertise to guide families at a time when they feel so lost! You're a gem, and I want us to always stay in touch!
