Bunny Porter-Shirley

Bunny Porter-Shirley has worked in the field of education since 1976, first as a special needs and resource-room teacher and later advising students on vocational and college selection.

Co-author of Peterson's Guide to Drugs and Alcohol Programs at Four-Year Colleges.

An independent educational consultant since 1982, Porter-Shirley is a past member of the board of directors of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and currently co-chairs the Special Needs Committee. She has earned the professional designation CEP from the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners. In addition to the CEP and IECA designation, she is a member of the following professional organizations:

  • National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs
  • National Association of College Admissions Counselors
  • Southern Association of College Admission Counselors
Porter-Shirley has organized, moderated and served as a panelist at national and regional college association meetings and workshops. In addition she visits more than 30 schools, colleges, and therapeutic facilities each year to keep up to date on campuses, admission practices, and programs.

Bunny Porter-Shirley is currently a Board Member for the Currey Ingram Academy, a state-of-the-art school for students with learning differences.

After years of serving as a Board Member for the Currey Ingram Academy, a state-of-the-art school for students with learning differences, Bunny Porter-Shirley is presently on their Advisory Board. She also serves as a member of the Advisory Board for Daystar Counseling Ministries.
